I participated the Intentional Learning: Using Children’s Books to Support Culturally Responsive Teaching in the Movement Classroom workshop. It was fun, interactive, and full of useful content! Tanjarae shared books and lesson ideas that I tried with my students almost immediately as well as big picture concepts I can apply in future lesson planning. The group brainstormed ideas about different ways to use a book during the session, and because my students have been so excited about exploring the book and hip hop, I’ve used a few already! Our session about Culturally Responsive Arts Integration was phenomenal. From the brain research that came out of it to the movement that was incorporated to gaining a better understanding of how we can use the arts to drive learning, it was so insightful.
